Cook the way
you want to cook.

Lighthearted Kitchen is a private, vetted network of chefs in 18 US cities. We bring you hosts who want a personal table and a calm pace. You set your menu, your price, and your dates. We handle vetting, matchmaking, and admin.

Who we approve

A short, honest list.

  • Five+ years of professional kitchen experience.
Restaurant, private, catering — any combination.
  • A point of view.
A way of cooking that's recognizably yours. Not a list of cuisines you can do.
  • Comfort cooking in a stranger's home.
Or willingness to learn — that's what the course is for.
  • A real interest in the relational part.
The food matters. So does the room. We value chefs who care about both.
The path to approval

Four gates. About 6 weeks.

We don't approve chefs based on a resume. The course and the in-home dinner are what tell us — and you — whether this is a fit.

1
Application

Tell us who you are.

A 25-minute form. Background, point of view, a sample menu, three photos of your food. We respond within 10 days.

2
The course

Two weeks, online.

Eight modules on private cooking: scoping a host, costing a menu, kitchen-walkthrough best practices, service flow, food-safety review, the relational frame.

3
In-home dinner

Cook for our team.

Six guests, your menu, your pricing. We sit at the table. We pay for the dinner. We're looking at the food, the service, and the room.

4
Approval

Welcome to the network.

Profile goes live. We start matching. Your first paid booking is usually within 30 days of approval.

What you keep

85% of the dinner.
You set the price.

Lighthearted takes a 15% platform fee from each booking, paid by the host. You quote your own per-guest pricing — most chefs in the network are between $185 and $320, depending on city and menu.

Payment is handled through us. We collect from the host, hold until two days after the dinner, then transfer to you. No invoicing. No chasing.

A few things to know

What we are — and aren't.

We are
  • — A vetting layer. Hosts trust the badge.
  • — A matchmaker. We send you fits, not leads.
  • — A payment rail. Money moves cleanly.
  • — A safety net. Insurance, contracts, support.
  • — A small community. Eight to twelve new chefs per year.
We aren't
  • — A staffing agency or marketplace flood.
  • — Setting your menu or your prices.
  • — Managing your bookings or your calendar.
  • — A volume play. We send fewer, better-fit hosts.
  • — Open to everyone — about 1 in 12 applicants is approved.
"I came in skeptical of the course. Two weeks in, I had a real costing model and a clearer pitch. My first booked dinner cleared in eight days." — Chef in Austin, approved 2024
